Statement from NY-BEST Executive Director, Dr. William Acker on NYS

Public Service Commission Order Adopting The New York Energy Storage Roadmap

(Albany, NEW YORK) The New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium (NY-BEST) today issued the following statement from Dr. William Acker, Executive Director of NY-BEST:   “NY-BEST applauds the Public Service Commission for its action today to establish an Energy Storage Roadmap for New York, codifying Governor Cuomo’s 1,500 MW energy storage target by 2025 and establishing a nation-leading 3 GW by 2030 energy storage deployment goal. The Roadmap’s new market bridge incentive program will jumpstart energy storage deployments in the state and we look forward to working with the Commission and NYSERDA on this program, as well as the Roadmap’s other ground-breaking initiatives, to unleash the benefits of energy storage for New York’s electric grid, economy and the environment,” said Dr. William Acker, Executive Director of NY-BEST.   “Governor Cuomo’s leadership in energy has secured New York State’s role as a leader in clean energy and energy storage. NY-BEST greatly appreciates that Governor Cuomo has acknowledged the important role that energy storage technologies can play in modernizing and upgrading our electric grid, strengthening the resilience of our vital infrastructure and growing our economy.”     About NY-BEST The New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology (NY-BEST) Consortium is a non-profit corporation established in 2010 to position New York State as a global leader in energy storage technology including applications in transportation, grid storage, and power electronics.
